    Dan Schnabel, the long time part-time pastor at the Cathlamet Congregational and the Naselle Congregational United Church of Christ, has retired. After 48 years in ministry, Schnabel and his wife, Jan, are ready to focus on other things, namely their family in Vancouver and their property near Castle Rock.     Altruism is a central lesson in Tina Merz’ Avid Leadership class and her junior high students have taken it to heart. Their most recent fundraising efforts have been focused on someone close to home, or in this case, their classroom. They have been raising money for Charlotte Cooper-Robinson, a janitor at John C.     The 3rd Annual Warriors and Widows Salmon Derby is scheduled for August 30 and 31. This year 35 Warriors from the Warrior Transition Battalion at Joint Base Lewis McCord and widows will again fish with 10 firemen, sheriff’s deputies and state policemen.     Skamokawa's Roadkill Saloon held its 1st Annual Bunny Hop Car Show on April 15 to benefit the Wahkiakum Dollars for Scholars, raising $306. There were 17 car entries, and over 150 motorcycles attended.     Razor clam diggers can look forward to a six-day opening starting yesterday (April 26) on various ocean beaches and will have an increased daily limit of 25 clams at Long Beach. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has approved the dig on morning tides at four ocean beaches after toxin test results show the clams on those beaches are safe to eat.
