Senior Makenzie Anderson was recently named the Wahkiakum High School Winner by the Wendy's High School Heisman for her mastery in and out of the classroom. The program was started in 1994 as a collaboration between Wendy's and the Heisman Trophy Trust to honor students throughout the United States. Students are selected at each school in the first phase. Then a finalist from each state is chosen and so on. Puget Island resident Carol Kriesel dropped off unused medications on Saturday in Cathlamet. Ginger Hake of the Wahkiakum Community Network and Ernie Schnabler of the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office were on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to collect unused and expired medications.
