Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 14 — 11:05 a.m. A caller reported two recent thefts from their Elochoman Valley home. They were missing a power saw, line cutters, batteries, tools, and chains. 3:11 p.m. A person visiting a vacation rental in Rosburg found a family living in a tent on the property. The property owner contacted the sheriff’s office and then notified the family they had five days to leave. 4:30 p.m. A disabled pitbull was found in the middle of an Elochoman Valley road. The dog had allegedly been abandoned twice by its owners. It was taken to a veterinarian and a representative from a dog shelter in Eugene was en route to pick it up. 5:51 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that a cellphone had been stolen. 10:38 p.m. Thinking it was odd, a caller reported that someone had parked at Strong Park and was still sitting there with the engine idling a half an hour later. 11:28 p.m. An inmate at the county jail made a phone call that violated a no contact order.

January 15 — 10:49 a.m. A east county property owner was concerned that someone was cutting down trees on her land. 11:05 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with breathing issues to the hospital. 1:39 p.m. A Deep River resident reported a theft.

January 16 — 7:25 a.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to a chimney fire in the Rosedale area. 11:09 a.m. A caller reported that he was being harassed with anonymous letters. 12:46 p.m. A juvenile was seen driving down a Rosedale road with another juvenile on top of the car. 1:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with chest pain. 5:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident with low blood sugar. 7:11 p.m. An individual was detained after a witness reported that he had threatened a woman in the Rosburg area.

January 17 — 8:03 a.m. A representative from the mental health department asked the sheriff’s office to be on the lookout for an individual who had not been seen and no longer resided at her last known address. 6:02 p.m. An individual in custody damaged a patrol car.

January 18 — 7:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Skamokawa resident. 5:43 p.m. A trespasser was reported at an Alger Creek property. 7:10 p.m. An individual was taken into custody at the marina in Cathlamet. 8:10 p.m. A tree limb had fallen on a power line and caused a power outage at several homes on the east side of the county. The District 4 Fire Department and the PUD responded. 9:54 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious person with a lantern and a weed sprayer in the grass by the bathrooms at the marina. It turned out to be someone looking for night crawlers for pikeminnow season.

January 19 — 9 a.m. The county road department responded after a tree fell and was blocking Altoona-Pillar Rock Road. 9:15 a.m. A caller reported that there were four steers in the middle of Altoona-Pillar Rock Road. 2:05 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported possible fraud after being charged for something she did not order. 4:01 p.m. A dog was found on an Elochoman Valley road.

January 20 — 8:25 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when an inmate in the county jail started complaining of chest pains, breathing problems, and clamminess.
