Board needs Westend voices to be heard

To The Eagle:

I have served on many boards and committees but I can say the County Planning Commission has been one of the best I have ever been a member of. So when I read that two of the commissioners resigned last week I was really sad, but not surprised because I too, was also very unhappy with how things went at our last meeting.

There need to be changes and I will work with my fellow commissioners to discuss and make needed changes to bring order to how we do business in the future.

I was one the commissioners that voted no on the PUD's Westside water plan as did the majority of the planning commissioners but I understand why some commissioners voted for it, that is what makes Democracy work, that is to say each of us stated our opinion and voted our belief.

However at our last meeting there were two persons not on the planning commission who felt they should control the meeting by limiting debate and subject matter, this I promise will be discussed at our next meeting.

The planning commission is an advisory board that looks at all aspects of proposed plans in the county and makes a recommendation to county commissioners. It then is their difficult task to make the final decision. I respect their work and I know they respect the work of the planning commission.

I now publicly ask the two resigning commissioners to rescind their resignations. We need their voices from the Westside on the board.

If you live on the Westside and know Colleen Haley and/or Trudy Frederickson please let them know there is more work to do as your representatives on the planning commission.

I now publicly ask to have a special planning commission meeting to clear the air as soon as possible.

On another note "God Bless America" in these troubled times across our nation.
