Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 13 — 6:43 a.m. A caller reported someone riding a moped without any lights on SR 4 near County Line Park. 11:30 a.m. Two dogs were barking and running loose around an Elochoman Valley neighborhood. The owner was given a warning. 11:50 am. A person living in a Cathlamet apartment said she was being harassed by someone working in the building. She was told it was a civil issue and was advised to call if anyone entered her apartment without permission. 5:44 p.m. A caller hung up after dialing 911.

March 14 — 12:07 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident said he was being harassed and intimidated by a neighbor. 12:21 p.m. An unoccupied boat got stuck on pilings along West Sunny Sands. 1:56 p.m. A caller said a donkey was wandering around in the Elochoman Valley. A deputy responded and found the animal, a mini mule, back in its pen. 4:18 p.m. The sheriff’s department received a 911 text from a person on a bus in Oregon who feared that other people traveling with him wanted to hurt him. He was able to speak to an officer at a transit center. The matter was transferred to authorities in Columbia County. 6:25 a.m. A caller said an RV parked at the intersection of Columbia Street and the Glen Gate neighborhood was responsible for several near collisions. 8:30 p.m. A caller said people were making a lot of noise and trying to break into a shed on a Rosedale property. A second caller said that the subjects broke into a home and damaged a door. A deputy responded. 9:06 p.m. A caller said that his wife informed him that a log and some rocks had fallen from a cliff onto SR 4 west of Skamokawa. She was able to move the log, but was concerned about the rest of the debris.

March 15 — 4:37 a.m. A Deep River resident found a suspicious vehicle in his driveway when he got home from work. The driver was slumped over in the vehicle. A deputy and the Grays River ambulance responded. The deputy spoke to the driver, who left the premises and headed towards SR 4. 6:34 a.m. A caller complained about dogs barking for several hours at a neighboring Elochoman Valley property. A deputy said they were working with the owners. 9:41 a.m. SR 409 was closed temporarily when a vehicle rolled over and into a nearby slough. A deputy, the Cathlamet ambulance, the Puget Island Fire Department, and a tow truck responded. HAZMAT and the National Response Center for the Environmental Protection Agency were notified of a spill. Someone picked up a pet that had been in the vehicle. 2:24 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident with a possible bladder infection. 5:52 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident. 6:15 p.m. A driver struck a deer on SR 4 on the west side of KM. 6:23 p.m. A caller in Skamokawa said a caregiver sent a letter to a family member demanding money and more. 8:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident.

March 16 — 12:38 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and a deputy responded when a medical alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. 2:19 p.m. A medical alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley residence. The Cathlamet ambulance responded. The alarm company called five minutes later to say the resident was just testing the alarm. 3:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 4:42 p.m. A caller said someone was trying to break into a Cathlamet apartment. 7:57 p.m. A caller reported that someone may be violating a trespass order at a Rosedale business.

March 17 — 10:02 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having trouble breathing. 2:50 p.m. A caller reported a deceased deer in front of an access gate in the Skamokawa area. The Washington State Department of Transportation and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife were notified. 5:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with high blood pressure and a high heart rate to the hospital. 10:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with low blood pressure. 11:17 p.m. State patrol requested assistance with a matter involving stolen plates.

March 18 — 1:41 a.m. An employee at a Cathlamet business requested a deputy’s presence because she was leaving at a late hour with a lot of expensive equipment. 11:19 a.m. A Puget Island resident said a trespasser was tearing apart his float. 12:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a Rosedale resident to the hospital. 12:19 p.m. A caller said a person at the marina was having trouble breathing. The Cathlamet ambulance responded. 12:42 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911. 12:46 p.m. A driver heading west on SR 4 did not speed through Skamokawa but the caller believed they would be speeding later. State patrol was notified. 2:51 p.m. A woman was swept downstream after attempting to cross Grays River in waders and needed assistance after climbing onto a man made dam approximately three feet from the shore. WDFW was notified and en route with rescue gear. A deputy, the Grays River ambulance, and the Grays River Fire Department responded. The woman was out of the water by 3:46 p.m. 3:43 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who may have suffered a seizure. A deputy responded when the patient became combative. 6:50 p.m. A caller requested assistance when a customer became aggressive with employees and other customers at a Rosedale business. 10:08 p.m. A caller notified the sheriff’s department that he would be coyote hunting on Puget Island. 11:12 p.m. A caller reported an erratic westbound driver on SR 4.

March 19 — 9:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident complaining of back pain. 10:28 p.m. An alarm was activated at the Grays River Fire Hall. The district fire chief was notified. 11:44 p.m. A caller reported that someone had trespassed on Rosedale property after finding doors unlocked, lights on, and equipment missing. 3:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with diabetic issues. 4:18 p.m. A vehicle went into a ditch on Beaver Creek Road. The caller said there didn’t appear to be any injuries but the driver was freaking out. A deputy, District 4 Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 5:44 p.m. A caller was concerned about a youth living in an Elochoman Valley home.
