HELLO. Welcome library members, readers, and Wahkiakum residents to our monthly update.
CARD MAKING CLASS. The Friends of Cathlamet Library will be hosting a Valentine’s Day card making class Friday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. in the lower room of the Pioneer Center. Join us for a fun time crafting as Heather of Serendipity Thrift Store guides you in making Valentine’s Day cards. All supplies provided. See you at the Pioneer Center.
TAKE YOUR CHILD. Saturday, Feb. 7, is designated as Take Your Child to the Library Day. We will have age group craft and activity centers, and we have free books for everyone while supplies last.
LIBRARY CARDS AND DUNGENESS CRABS. The Cathlamet Public Library will be at the 40th Annual Crab and Oyster Feed Saturday, Feb. 7, from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Columbia River Ranch. We will have a table setup for folks to stop by and become a library member, receive your library card, learn about the 15 percent discounts, and how to check-out our various free cultural passes. Put the mallet down, for a moment, and stop on by for a visit. We’d enjoy helping you become a library member.
BINGO. On Saturday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. Norse Hall will be hosting its monthly Bingo night. The library will have a table there to provide you with a library card, flyers, and info. See you at the Norse Hall.
DAILY CRAFT TABLE. An all-ages craft table happens daily while supplies last. Make or take-to-make a mourning cloak butterfly, vintage notions mini-valentine, and coming soon, a garden journal with complimentary seed packets and Trust for Youth and Child Leadership (TYCL) activities.
BLUE SCORCHER BAKERY. You now get 25 percent off on all bread purchases with your Cathlamet library card at The Blue Scorcher Bakery and Cafe in Astoria. Stop in and tell them “Thank you.”
PODCASTS. The Cathlamet Public Library will be on the following podcasts in February: Talk of Our Towns, by Donna Quinn; The Human Beat, by Roger Rocka; and An Adventure in History, by Mac Burns and Alana Kujala. Each podcast is listed and hosted by KMUN radio. Visit their website (kmun.org) for a listen.
WESTSIDE SENIOR LUNCH. The library has a table set-up on the first Wednesday of every month at noon in the Rosburg Community Hall for the Westside Senior Lunch. Stop by and get a library card, flyers, and ask any questions you may have about your library. See you at Rosburg Hall.
STORY TIME. Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m., we have our weekly Story Time. Visit, relax, and enjoy. Drop on in, as all are welcome.
LIBRARY AFTER DARK. Every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., the library is open for an informal social gathering. Various activities are available along with a warm welcoming atmosphere.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. Takes place the first through fourth Wednesdays each month from 6 to 8 p.m. The Siblings & Family group and the grades 6–12 group meet in the Pioneer Center. If interested, please stop by and visit.
WESTEND DELIVERY. Every Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m., the library provides a Westend Delivery service at the Rosburg Fire Station. As a reminder, patrons who pick-up a book, DVD, or pass also receive two Cottage restaurant chocolate chip cookies at the delivery. See website (cathlamet.lib.wa.us) for details.
CULTURAL PASSES. The following five passes are available at the library: Clatsop County Historical Society, Discover, Oregon State Park day-parking, Rice Museum of Rocks and Minerals, and Columbia River Maritime Museum. Reserve your pass ahead of time. A limit of one per family.
CARD DISCOUNTS. Enjoy 15 percent off with your library card at Patty Cakes, The Spar, The Video Store, Little Woo’s, JJ’s Pizza & Mohr, Naselle Coffee Shop, Puget Island Gardens, and Little Island Creamery. Thank you to each of these local businesses for supporting Cathlamet Public Library.
PERPETUAL PUZZLE. A seasonal jigsaw puzzle is available in a corner nook. Relax and enjoy some quiet time.
STILL WAITING? We have the Top 10 Libby physical books. Since waiting on an ebook can be such a drag, look for the book shelf labeled, “Still Waiting?” and check it out.
WORK SPECIALIST. Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m., Diana Zimmerman from Employ Wahkiakum assists job seekers with job searches, resumes, cover letters, and more.
FREE COOKIES. The library offers free cookies on both Fridays and Saturdays, as well as Thursdays at our Westend Delivery service.
NOTARY SERVICE. Free notary service is available Thursday and Saturday at 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30 p.m. Please schedule ahead.
LIBRARY CARDS. Cathlamet library cards are free for all Wahkiakum residents.
