    May 24, 2007 Wahkiakum County residents will be able to dispose of household hazardous wastes June 2, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wahkiakum PUD’s parking lot.     May 24, 2007 When the Ferry Wahkiakum next goes to refuel, it will do so in Oregon, Wahkiakum County commissioners decided this week. The change is a result of new Washington state regulations designed to reduce the amount of fuel spilled into waters of the state during refueling of vessels. The regulations require, among other things, that a floating boom be deployed around the vessel being refueled.     May 24, 2007 The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) has awarded a contract to a team of companies to clean up tire piles in Thurston, Lewis, Cowlitz and Jefferson counties. Tire Disposal and Recycling, a Portland-based business, and L&S Tire from Lakewood and Spokane will remove approximately 381,700 tires from 16 sites under the $631,916 contract.     May 24, 2007 The Cathlamet Town Council revised swimming pool admission fees, approved a variety of requests and denied a couple of others at the council’s monthly meeting May 21.
