Well, Mother Nature was pretty nice to us for a few days but topped off the weekend with a nice deluge of 1.3 inches of rain and wind, according to our weather station. Everything smells so nice with all the flowers blooming and trees budding out. The birds are picking up the dog hair off our lawn that we brush from the dogs. They actually fight each other in the air for the soft tufts. Fun to watch. Supporters said it would improve consumer choice but opponents argued that small businesses would be hurt. When voters approved the initiative, they sealed the fate of the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB). By June 1 WSLCB will close state liquor store and distribution operations. For Janell Seaberg, manager of the Cathlamet Liquor Store, the practice of selling liquor will be nothing new....

To The Eagle: I just wanted to share a wonderful story that happened in our little village of Cathlamet. As the owner of the Villa at little Cape Horn B&B we try to send our guests to venture into town and shop, have lunch and dinner. On Sunday afternoon, we had a couple check in from Lake Oswego, Ore. They were celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary. Janette and Dan are a special couple as Dan just had his 99th birthday. We worried that they may have trouble finding our B&B and Jeanette informed us that she would use GPS and if they got...
To The Eagle: Let's be honest, "it" is not an easy subject to talk about. Most of us are uncomfortable talking about sex. But let's take a moment and get past the blushing, because this conversation is so important. April is Sexual Assault Prevention Month and this April, communities across Washington are proclaiming "Voices. Actions. Communities." This year's campaign encourages individuals and communities to bring healthy sexuality into the conversation on how we connect with and respect one another in order to prevent sexual violence. By...

Toilet dispensers ideally should be as follows: The aft end of any dispensers should be in line with the front edge of the toilet. And the bottom of the dispenser should be 40 inches from the...

Last Thursday, the Wahkiakum Lady Mules overcame Naselle’s four run first inning to 10-run their KM counterparts in a 14-4 six-inning victory at Cathlamet. Brieanna Olsen picked up the victory for the Lady Mules, settling down after issuing three walks and a pair of singles in the first inning to allow only two hits over the next five innings. One of those two hits was a one-out double in the third inning, but she was quickly erased when the next batter lined out to second baseman Morgan Elliott, who quickly got the ball to shortstop Tori W...
