There was a small but enthusiastic response to the 2021 Wooden Boat Show at the Elochoman Slough Marina this weekend, and organizers-which included Allen Bennett and Julius Dalzell of the Lower Columbia Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association, as well as members of the Cathlamet Yacht Club-were pleased. Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services (WHHS) received positive test result notifications for four additional covid-19 cases in Wahkiakum County residents and also an additional covid related fatality, department Director Chris Bischoff announced this morning (Tuesday). Wahkiakum County Commissioners on Tuesday authorized the purchase of a spare engine for the ferry Oscar B. Commissioners also authorized the Public Works Department to contract with an engineering firm to survey county bridges, and they approved an update of a sheriff's office contract with the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) for occasional housing of prisoners in the county jail. Primary results for the Cathlamet mayoral race are in, with David Olson and Robert Stowe moving forward to the November general election, ending incumbent Dale Jacobson's bid for a third term. There was a 39.82 percent turnout for the election, with 174 ballots counted and 25 left to count. A final count will be held on August 17, when the vote will be certified.
