The Berries that Changed History We live in an area that appears to remain unchanged as we go about our daily activities traveling the area. Some blackberries are native to the area and some are from foreign sources. Ghosts of Grays River: The Jesse Baker Jr. Saga, Part II Grays River has been home to some of the most illustrious people who for the most part have become unknown to but a few. This all changed for me, a relative newcomer who by nature is curious. Finding the Walker home's partial history led to the discovery of the abandoned Walker Cemetery and the lost graves of the Baker family who became the ghosts of Grays River. It is almost impossible to understand what goes through the mind of a man...

The farmers market will end its season this Friday, and this will be the last chance for shoppers to stop by the Elochoman Slough Marina to pick up meat, fresh vegetables, honey, handmade soap and more from local vendors this year. ENDING/BEGINNING--Here we are towards the end of yet another month, and yes, it flew by! As I write this, Fall has officially arrived and it's a cloudy, gloomy day, but at least it isn't pouring down rain like it was yesterday, so I'll take the dry and gloomy over the super wet and gloomy any day! With these cooler temperatures, it's definitely time to drag out those warmer coats and maybe add another blanket to our beds, as the night air has a definite chill to it now. The forecast shows a few dry days ahead, so let's hope that comes true and...
Ghosts of Grays River: The Jesse Baker Jr. Saga Part I Near the corner of State Route 4 West and North Hull Creek Road sits the oldest home in Grays River built around 1870 by Samuel Walker. The grass is close to four feet high in places, hiding this 150 year old home. It would be wonderful to see this home restored and put to use as a historical landmark. I find it comical and yet a bit sad that there is a heritage sign in front of the house that refers to the Meserve Park but says nothing...
