Backman said he had been contacted by a person who had received a notice...
GREAT START--As this week began last Sunday, it was super nice, as were the couple of days prior to that. It was definitely great weather for heading to the beach and having fun in the sun, but I found doing yard work was just a bit much for me, as once it gets up there in those 80 degree marks, I'm hiding in the basement! The first couple of days this week were super toasty and in many places, records for those days were broken, and we were even warmer than Portland on Sunday evening. While we basked in the sunshine, other places like...

Maureen Zacher-Bockius thought a new library needed a new sign, so she set about making it happen. It took a little longer to realize than she had hoped, taking the better part of a year and a half, but her persistence finally paid off. After taking a design to Carol Blix, the librarian at the Cathlamet Library, she began her quest for the perfect piece of old timber. Henry Blankenship had just the thing. There was only one minor problem. It was 10 feet long and Zacher-Bockius had no way to...

SUPER NICE--Last Thursday was certainly a toasty one as temperatures here hit the mid-80's which is pretty rare for us this time of year! While I'm sure the sun and heat lovers liked it, it was a bit too warm for me to be outside for very long, but if you were one of those who loved it, I hope you wore sun screen! By the time the weekend was over, it was back to some clouds and a brief amount of mist in certain places, so it was more my kind of weather. I know it was much better to do yardwork in, as it was much cooler and the sun wasn't...

Jaime Herrera Beutler recognized the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Narcotics Task Force on April 7 in Longview. Historically, crime control has been the responsibility of local and state governments, with little involvement from the federal government. However, as crime became more rampant in the United States, the federal government increased its support for domestic crime control in the 1990s by creating a series of grant programs designed to assist state and local law enforcement. Byrne was one of them....
