Norm Bolton

Norman (Norm) Luis Bolton, 89, passed away peacefully on April 23rd, 2023, at his home in Rosburg, Washington surrounded by family. He was born May 7th, 1933, in Oakland, California to Ema May Gagne and Norman Claire Bolton. He enlisted in the marines in 1950 placing top marksman in his class for sharpshooter. After serving in the Korean war, he was honorably discharged and went on to get his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1963 at Long Beach State College.

Norm married Joyce Lucille Keeling on September 21st, 1956. They were married for 65 years and were blessed with a total of 4 children: Keith, Loreen, Lisa, and Leslie. He worked as a phycologist technician at a mental health institution and then a Engineer for Rockwell for over 30 years which included helping with Apollo 13 and pioneering the first fingerprinting system. After he retired, he and Joyce moved to Rosburg and ended up buying the Rosburg Store. He also helped with the Rosburg School Community Center, was on the Conservation District Board, and was also an active Rosburg Grange Member and the American Legion. He was an avid reader, gardner, woodworker, and artist.

Norm is survived by his children; Keith & Nina Bolton, Loreen Higgins, Lisa & Rich Bolton-Northness, and Leslie & Larry Long; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; Brother Donny Bolton. He was proceeded in death by his wife Joyce Lucille Keeling-Bolton; Brother Robert Bolton; Mother Emma May Bolton and Father Norman Claire Bolton.

Norm will be especially remembered as strong as an ox, cantankerous as an old fart, silent but deadly but a heart of gold. He would give the shirt off his back to those that needed it and would do anything for his family. Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, May 7th, 2023, at 3:30 pm at the Valley Bible Church in Deep River, Washington.
