Wahkiakum Port District 2 officials looked for savings and considered additions to their 2010 budget in a special meeting workshop on Tuesday. The historic eight-sided barn that overlooks Cathlamet will move to a new location today (Thursday). A moving contractor has been placing tractor crawlers this week to prepare for the move approximately a half a mile along Greenwood Road. A wet night proved to be to the Wahkiakum Mules' liking as they dominated the Winlock Cardinals for an 18-2 Central League football win last Friday. Wahkiakum County officials are on track to approve as much as $200,000 in capital improvements to infrastructure in Wahkiakum County in 2011. The county adopted a resolution in 2004 that place a tax of .25 of a percent on real estate sales, and the fund has grown to $750,000, Treasurer Paula Holloway said Tuesday. After spending three hours discussing the latest draft of an update to the Cathlamet zoning ordinance, members of the town council and planning commission agreed Tuesday that a new start is needed. The Naselle/Grays River Valley School District has settled a suit which two men had filed over alleged violations for the state Open Public Meetings Act. Steve R. Gacke and Stephen Sultemeier filed the suit last May against the district and Directors Hollis Fletcher and Ed Darcher.
