Hank Wilson, 10, who was injured when the vehicle he was riding in rolled off SR 4 and into a ravine on KM on August 3 is improving rapidly, according to his dad, Todd Wilson. Hank was transported to Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland, where he continues to receive care. The Tavern at the Hotel Cathlamet, a new wine bar, is opening this Friday with a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. Doors will be open to kids until 5 p.m. that day but from that point on, you'll have to be at least 21 to enjoy the quiet space and a glass of wine. The Washington State Department of Transportation has announced late last Friday that full overnight closures of the SR 409 Puget Island bridge will take place four nights next week to accommodate paving work. The closures would run 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights. The Wahkiakum County PUD Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday to go over a preliminary budget for 2020, listen to reports, and approve a couple resolutions. General Manager Dave Tramblie gave an update on the Grays River substation project. The Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Island (IFCPI) presented the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Department two animal catch poles for use in controlling pets during rescues and emergencies. A 10-year-old boy remains hospitalized following a one car, roll-over traffic accident August 3, 4:07 p.m. Hank Wilson, age 10, was a passenger in a 2006 Ford pickup driven by his mother, Nicole Wilson, that went off SR 4 on KM Mountain and rolled.
