In June, The Health Care Foundation awarded Community Home Health & Hospice with a $50,000 grant. The gift was a matching grant, meaning Community first raised $50,000, in part from individual donations and the Friends of Hospice Southwest Washington nonprofit. Wahkiakum County Officials on July 8 implemented an emergency burn ban effective yesterday (Wednesday) morning. Officials cited a lack of precipitation and dry conditions that have prompted a coordinated burn ban for SW Washington. The ban will remain in effect on all outdoor burning until weather conditions improve. All land clearing, residential and silvicultural burning is banned until further notice, according to a statement from the Wahkiakum County Public Works Department. MIXED WEATHER--This past weekend started a bit drippy for many of us and the "brief shower" listed on our weather apps lasted much longer for some of us, as often times we find that West Valley is "very special,"as in, "always different" than most, so we don't count on those apps to correctly forecast our weather! I hope the upcoming forecast is nicer though, as it may wind up that the weather will be wetter during the week but mostly sunny for the weekend, which I'm sure would be very well received for those with big BBQ or travel plans....
