Sheriff's Report, June 23, 2022

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 13 — 2:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance provided aid to a woman in a Cathlamet restaurant. 6:07 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a man and a woman were in her driveway yelling about something posted online. They wouldn’t leave. The caller said that her neighbor had repeatedly told the man to leave and then pepper sprayed him after the man tried to hit him. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 6:39 p.m. A caller said that a family member in Grays River had become unresponsive while they were on the phone. The Grays River ambulance responded. The coroner was requested at 7:36 p.m.

June 14 — 2:07 a.m. A Deep River resident reported that someone was near or in her home after hearing a door open and finding a door unlocked. She didn’t see anyone outside. She called back at 2:21 a.m. and said that she didn’t need anyone to come and check, but a deputy arrived at 3:11 a.m. and cleared the home and surrounding property and said everything appeared to be clear. 8:35 a.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 9:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient who was having seizures. 1:45 p.m. A caller said that a man tried to pin him against a barrier on an Elochoman Valley road because the road was closed. Deputies responded and a man and his two sons who were involved in the altercation were trespassed until construction was completed. 2:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident after her hip went out. 2:21 p.m. A Rosedale resident was threatening to harm himself. Deputies responded. 2:49 p.m. A Deep River resident complained that a neighbor had been speeding and more recently driven through his side yard. 2:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a Rosedale resident to the hospital for mental health services. 5:51 p.m. A caller reported that someone was walking down the middle of East Valley Road and was not moving out of the way for vehicles. A deputy responded and found the man walking on the shoulder. 9:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 9:54 p.m. A Puget Island resident said that someone was shooting and causing the dogs in the neighborhood to bark. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the source of the noise.

June 15 — 11:04 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had broken down on SR 4 near Flanders-ville. A tow truck was en route. 12:12 p.m. A deputy arrived for a civil standby at a Puget Island address, but no one showed up. 12:32 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after losing her keys in her car. 12:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 2:46 p.m. A caller said that several cows in a Puget Island field were starving. They said they would reach out to the Wahkiakum Animal Advocates Group. A deputy responded. 3:29 p.m. A caller was concerned about a family member who was traveling to Cathlamet from Marysville and had not arrived. 3:38 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about a neighbor playing loud music “laced with profanities.” The resident called back two hours later to say she could still hear the music with her doors closed. She said she had asked neighbors to turn it down. A deputy spoke with the parents and they said they would take care of it. 6:02 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading east on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 7:24 p.m. A Rosedale resident asked for assistance. He said he was feeling discouraged and was contemplating self harm. A deputy responded. 8:17 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver heading west on SR 4 in the Little Cape Horn area.

June 16 — 1:25 a.m. A river pilot reported seeing a bright light under water near River Marker 39. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the light. 8:13 a.m. A caller reported malnourished cows on a Puget Island property. 5:26 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle on North Welcome Slough Road. 7:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance provided a lift assist for a Cathlamet resident.

June 17 — 10:44 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Skamokawa resident after they got disconnected during a Zoom meeting. Deputies responded. 2:15 p.m. A caller reported that a cow was standing along SR 4 west of the Rosburg store. Deputies responded but were unable to locate the cow. 2:16 p.m. A caller reported starving and deceased cattle on a Puget Island property. A deputy responded. 7:40 p.m. A caller said that there would be military training at the 1400 block of Pillar Rock Road and that they would be setting off some training ordinance. 8:50 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a utility trailer had been stolen. She said that it had been given to them, but the title may still be in the owner’s name. 9:02 p.m. A caller said that medications had been stolen from his vehicle. He called back later to say the medications had been found. 9:07 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that someone was breaking into her home. Deputies responded and found nothing suspicious. 9:15 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at an Elochoman Valley home. 10:17 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a power outage. The PUD responded.

June 18 — 1:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 4:24 p.m. A caller reported that a restraining order had been violated. 5:43 p.m. A caller was concerned that her ex-husband was driving while intoxicated with their kids in the car. 9:56 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that an unknown dog was on her property. She thought it might have come from Vista Park.
