ANOTHER YEAR--Well, we’re five days into 2023 and we’ve had some wild weather to end 2022 and to start 2023 as well, so I’m hoping for some milder stuff for awhile. PRETTY UGLY--I think we can all agree that last week's weather was pretty awful, as “Ole Man Winter” really made his debut a powerful one and that ice storm we had really came on fast and definitely made road travel treacherous. One stretch of I-5 saw 20 roll over accidents in just a few hours and most agreed that the streets were “ice rinks” and people should stay home. BEEN COLD--I hope you survived the arctic blast that we had last week, as it certainly was chilly around these parts. Those low 20 degree temperatures certainly make my ole bones ache, along with making those roads slick with ice and heavy frost. WHAT WILL WE GET?--As this week begins, the forecast is a mixed bag, with some saying we could get some snow and some saying it’s just going to freeze, while others are saying rain every day, so I guess we will just have to wait and see what shows up. BRR--We have certainly had some chilly temperatures in West Valley this past week and I can say with all certainty that I’m not at all fond of those mid-20 degree temps we were having, as that’s just too cold for me! NOT NICE--We all know that we had quite the weather event this past week but at least it didn’t last too long. DAMPNESS--This week begins with a bit of moisture in West Valley and a big sigh of relief from all my plants and brown grass I’m sure! We started this Sunday with just a smidgen of rain in the morning hours but by evening time we had some “real rain” and it was almost surreal to hear the sound of some steady rainfall coming down as it’s been awhile. STILL SUNNY--As I begin this column, we’re still enjoying the sunshine although a few sprinkles did appear in a couple of spots over the weekend but as usual, not everyone got them. I was happy that the plants around my place are mostly “leaf feeders” and they got a little drink at least. SUNNY DAYS--It looks like we’ve been given a dry stretch of weather this week, although we did get a slight bit of moisture over the weekend. WARM WEEK--As the week begins, we’re seeing very warm temperatures again with my thermometers looking at temps in the low to mid-80s and that’s plenty for me. However, temps could rise a little higher just prior to the paper coming out and then by Friday, it’s supposed to cool down. GREAT TIME--Another Bald Eagle Days festival is in the books and what a great time it was.
