Volunteers from the Wahkiakum Community Network and Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Department collected old, unused prescription drugs April 27 as part of a statewide effort. On July 8-12, WSU Master Gardeners will host Camp Luqal Luqal for youth in grades 1-3 from 8-11:30 a.m. Camp will be held for youth in grades 3-5 in the afternoon from 1-4 p.m. The week-long camp provides a hands-on experience for youth to explore the world of bugs, plants, and weather. The Friends of Skamokawa (FOS) have announced the continuation of the Janet Cimino Estate Art sale at Redmen Hall until June 1. This is a benefit for Tsuga Gallery - a Wahkiakum gallery for local artists funded by the Janet Cimino Estate. All proceeds will go to Tsuga Gallery. A large crowd gathered last Wednesday morning for a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate Wahkiakum PUD’s new substation on Jacobson Road. Representatives from Bonneville Power Administration, PUD contract engineering firm Brown & Kysar, the Town of Cathlamet, Wahkiakum County, and Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce were in attendance, as were many PUD employees.
