This unusual season of the First Tech Challenge robotics competition has ended after five months of practice, building, coding, more practice, presentations, 18 competition matches and then a final presentation to judges on Saturday. Wahkiakum School District has been a kind of educational bookend in Nathan Vallejo's life. He started kindergarten at J.A. Wendt, and 11 or so years later returned for his senior year and to earn his diploma at Wahkiakum High School. He has family here, and so for a month every summer, he would return. Hunters can submit special hunt applications from April 26 through May 26 for 2021 deer, elk, mountain goat, moose, bighorn sheep, and fall turkey seasons in Washington. Fun report about my Aunt Hattie in Phoenix. She's in her 90's and still lives alone in her own house. She was happy to hear I'm writing this column, so I gave her a subscription. Colton Bachman moved from Astoria to Wahkiakum County when he was six or seven, and so he has shared the classroom with some of the same people for most of his life. "It's nice," Colton said. For some strange reason, it was the baseball coach's wife who decided years ago that Tristan Collupy should play the position of catcher. He's been happily hunkered down at home plate ever since. Emily Saari to wed Luke Galloway on May 8, 2021. Emily is the daughter of Robert and Becky Saari of Rosburg. Luke is a 6th generation Oregonian, the son of Timothy and Sharon Galloway.
