Anglers from around the region poured in last weekend for this summer's Hook the Hawg Salmon Derby at the Elochoman Marina. As Clatskanie area residents head off to trade schools, community colleges, and universities this fall, many of them will be assisted in meeting their expenses with Clatskanie Foundation scholarships. This year, the Foundation awarded 30 separate scholarships to 27 post-secondary students totaling $59,000. This is the largest amount ever given by the Foundation for a single school year. Lajuana Winger brought a request to construct a road on an undeveloped county-owned parcel off Clover Street between two properties. This road would provide access to Winger’s and her neighbor’s property and would be entirely paid for by them, costing the county no money.
